Berlioz decried the use of this phrase in "Alceste", pointing out
the advantages of using "Ombres!" and "Larves!" in the repeated phrase.
I note that Anne Sofie von Otter uses the Berlioz preference in her
recording of "Alceste" with John Eliot Gardiner.
