I don't know about "sacrilege", but I think that if I hadn't sung in this
in my youth, in English - as part of Canterbury Choral Society, I too would
skip past the recitative.  But somehow now it seems incomplete without
it,even if it is broadcast in German..  I don't know about recording of
this work tho'I haven't one.  I prefer to hear it live if possible..
