I don't think you can blame him for not taking the time to really listen,
though he shouldn't have made that comment.  There's only so much time in
a life.

I, too, was disappointed, (and surprised), that fellow instrumentalists
had never listened to Mahler or Janacek, nor did they have the time when
I would ask if they wanted to come over and take a listen.  But while I
was listening instead of practicing....
