A sad example of composer/soldier must of course be George Butterworth.
Now what if he had survived the 14-18? Would he have moved from English
Pastoral?

Unlike the French forces and M Kras, I can find no central point for the
reconciliation of arms and music in UK military circles, other than the
records at Kneller Hall.
