Another thing with LCD projectors is to religiously blow out the
filters, at least on a monthly basis if not more. Also make sure they
have plenty of ventilation and by all means make sure they go through a
proper power down cycle that allows the fans to cool the lamp properly.
In many projectors you can run the lamps at low power to preserve life.

One interesting thing we discovered was that many of our projectors were
connected to the exhibit hall lighting grid. When the lights were
turned off, the projectors immediately shut down, fans and all. We
virtually destroyed all the Panasonic projectors in our building in less
than a year. Be sure to have personnel do the power down cycle and be
weary of connecting projectors to outlets that may be part of an
automatic or remote power off cycle.

Also, many institutions try to save costs by just resetting the lamp
hours to zero. This heightens the chance of a lamp exploding and taking
out most of the electronics. I've seen it happen several times in my
A/V rental days!
