Eric,

We've just begun a project that relates to our local watershed. Last month we installed Low Impact Development technologies that reduce stormwater runoff and help recharge the local aquifer. Our demonstration site has pervious pavers, gravel pave, grass pave, rainbarrels, and a rain garden -- simple technologies that homeowners and businesses can use.

We've just begun our education programs to complement this installation. So far adults and children are very interested in learning about rainwater, impervious surfaces, and pervious surfaces. With some simple hands-on activities people see that what happens in their own yard impacts their local watershed. We also hope that they'll consider the feasability of using LID technologies in their own backyard.

It's important work. Good luck!
Denise
