We have projectors from Sanyo and Sony that we have liked quite a bit,
they are inexpensive, good on lamp life, and reliable, we run projectors
10 hours a day 6 days a week, and we usually will get 6 months to a year
from our projector lamps. We have also used InFocus in the past....not
good at all, they lasted just about a year before the LCD screens
overheated and cracked, repair cost more than replacement...I would not
ever recommend them.

As far as videos, we usually just loop video on the projectors, more of
a "Set it and forget it" approach as there are no sensors or buttons to
break or be abused. We use and really like Medeawiz DV-76 Compact Flash
based media players, they are inexpensive, can be set to loop
automatically, and have no moving parts to wear out.

Hope that helps!

Hi,

The touchscreen thread reminded me that I'd like to poll the troops on
projectors for video. Ours would be used in an exhibit setting so it
will be
turned on most of the day. What are your experiences with these and do
you
have any that you like/hate? Reliability is key. Price is a factor but
mostly it needs to work well for months on end. Quality of image is also

important. (We're going to project the picture to about 4' x 5'.)

A related question has to do with cycling the program. We could have it
on a
loop (about 3 minutes) but does anyone have a favorite method for
activating
a video for a group? Motion sensor? Push-button at the theater entrance?
I
suppose that the projector needs to be running regardless, so perhaps
this
would be a wasted effort and a looping show is the way to go. I'd be
interested in opinions and experiences.

Thanks,
Seth!
