ISEN-ASTC-L is a service of the Association of Science-Technology Centers

Megan and all,

I don't think a movie is the right analogy. Adults expect to enjoy the
movie--often, there is content added that goes right over a kid's head--and
don't see themselves just in the role of chaperone. I suspect the parents
who are questioning the fee are thinking of things like those indoor kid
gyms some communities have, where you pay a fee for each child but the
adults pay nothing because, obviously, they are not going to be scrambling
up the rope structure. In this latter case, the parent is clearly
accompanying the child to a child-specific event and would be outraged if
the gym tried to charge the adult.
