At the Exploratorium Traits of Life, the tiger skin by Heather
Achroyd and Dan Harvey, made by selectively-shading grass, is a step
beyond fantastic. I'm remembering a portrait of a woman's face, in
sod, hung vertically!, made the same way. Really fantastic.

Some years ago, there was a website that had a webcam focused on a
sprouting bud, lit by a computer monitor, actually hung from above,
shining down. Website visitors with webcams could send their own
images to the monitor. So people were aiming their webcams at the
sky from wherever they were in the world, providing light for this
sprout. I kept tabs on it for a little while, but don't know what
became of it in the end.
Eloquent idea...the light of the world, albeit spectrum-filtered by
processors and a CRT!
