What we need to remember is the subject was

stupid/dumb things SAID

not that the persons saying them were stupid/dumb!

I believe that most of us make a distinction between statements that leave
much to be desired (is it founded on supportive documentation/research?)
and those persons who have not yet benefited from a more complete
understanding of the lactation process.

If a person assumes that THEY are being attacked, that is unfortunate, but
unintended (in most cases).

However, identifying such inappropriate statements for what they are can
only sensitize all of us re: what research NEEDS to be done in order to
substantiate and support breastfeeding as the normative infant feeding
form.

We attack the statement, not the person making it....
