Recently heard an interesting story from a breastfeeding dr. where I work.
She's a black dr., which, I wonder, may also have contributed. She tells me
that her baby (probably about 5 months old) was recently diagnosed with
rickets. She was alarmed, knowing that her baby was getting the only
breastmilk--the Perfect Food. She tells me she checked out the Breastfeeding
Answer Book and found a reference to microwaving and fat soluble vitamins.
She told her babysitter to stop microwaving the breastmilk and baby's labs
have returned to normal.
