Thanks Helen, I am like minded in your statement "One of the things I am
most proud of is helping to empower women to make a positive choice for
themselves and their family and feel good about it. Even if it is not the
choice I would have made. because it is not my baby-it is hers."
I like to make sure that I give good information to my moms both prenatally
and here in the hospital before discharge. Then hope that they make good
choices. As for the colostrum issue, I like to point out to mothers how the
baby has "brown" fat stored up from in utero and that coupled with the
colostrum ( I reckon it to those high powered energy drinks! ) is all that
baby needs in the first few days, along with lots of "practice" at nursing.
