Thanks for posting this info. So many mothers comment to me that slings are expensive and that they don't have the time to sew with a new baby. mamatoto.org also has instruction for making a variety of slings (many of which do not require sewing) as well as video clips for usage and links to local babywearing educators. It's a wonderful resource to pass on to new mothers. I sometimes get a call back from a formerly frazzled mother thanking me for the information...I think that access to inexpensive, easy-to-use slings is SO critical for a new mother. Many are amazed at the difference in their infant's level of fussiness after simply wearing the baby for a few days.

Your instructions are much more concise than those on mamatoto, by the way!

Here are two very easy, cheap ways to make slings without any sewing.

1. For an over the shoulder type of sling:
You need a 3 yds long piece of 45" fabric.
Tie a square/reef knot (right over left, left over right,) in the short en=
ds.
Adjust to fit.

2. For a moby wrap type sling - this is truly hands free!
You need 6 yards of 60" knit fabric, split down the middle to make TWO slin=
gs.
(I go to the end-of-roll and discontinued section of the fabric stores.)
For directions on the various ways of using this sling, go to:
