Thanks for posting this info. So many mothers comment to me that slings are expensive and that they don't have the time to sew with a new baby. mamatoto.org also has instruction for making a variety of slings (many of which do not require sewing) as well as video clips for usage and links to local babywearing educators. It's a wonderful resource to pass on to new mothers. I sometimes get a call back from a formerly frazzled mother thanking me for the information...I think that access to inexpensive, easy-to-use slings is SO critical for a new mother. Many are amazed at the difference in their infant's level of fussiness after simply wearing the baby for a few days. Your instructions are much more concise than those on mamatoto, by the way! For an over the shoulder type of sling: You need a 3 yds long piece of 45" fabric. Tie a square/reef knot (right over left, left over right,) in the short en= ds. Adjust to fit. 2. For a moby wrap type sling - this is truly hands free! You need 6 yards of 60" knit fabric, split down the middle to make TWO slin= gs. (I go to the end-of-roll and discontinued section of the fabric stores.)
