It is my understanding that the concerns over unpasteurized apple cider 
involve possible bacterial contamination, which could cause problems if 
the cider is ingested. So young children and infants should never be given 
unpasteurized juices of any kind, since their ingestion has been known to 
cause deaths in children. But if the mother drinks the juice and gets food 
poisoning she will not pass this on to her infant through her breastmilk, 
though she may feel quite sick.
