Wendey, without having more of a history of ht and wt gain over the whole 11 months, I would be hesitant to say there is a wt problem.  The pedi probably is right not to worry, and maybe she/he could fax the growth data to the gastroen. person who could then be reassured that all is okay. 
 Is the child eating any solids?  I would certainly be introducing them slowly, but the mom needs to be reassured that early reactions via breastmilk to foods do not necessarily carry on after the child is a year.  The gut matures especially well on pure, exclusive breastmilk, so that is has an excellent "filtration" system, and is much less likely to have foreign proteins leaking into the systemic blood flow.  
  If there can be documented that there is failure to grow, then pancreatic enzymes should be tested along with other parameters.   It will be interesting to see what the rest of the netters think.    Michelle Scott, RD,IBCLC in NH
