I don't know whether to laugh or cry about what appeared in a
hammacher-Schlemmer catalogue. For those who don't know, this is a
pretentious catalog of expensive things, which I only opened because I
couldn't identify the gadget on the front. It looked like a kitchen
bowl and turned outto be a wood-fired hot tub. Anyway. . .

A few pages in we have THE ONLY INFANT CARE TIMER by "itzbeen"

http://www.hammacher.com/publish/73861.asp

This looks like a cell-phone-sized digital clock with five times--the
bottom is the actual time. The other four are are in a vertical column
above it, and have buttons next to them. One miscellaneous (asterisk),
then a diaper, a bottle, and "zZz." One sets the chosen intervals, and
when baby has awakened, been fed, or had a diaper change, one presses
the appropriate (ahem) button, and it begins the preset countdown. The
it beeps to let mom or sitter know that baby needs attention. (When I
pay a babysitter, I expect *real* attention) It "eliminates the need
for tracking childcare needs by memory or using a chart." Has a belt
clip, and built in flashlight, and a sliding nursing button to help
keep track or which side was nursed on last. $24.95 USD

Sheesh.

Lynn
