I would say run, don't walk, to another ob at another office for a second
opinion, perhaps an ultrasound to look at retained placenta. No, the mother
should not be having bright red bleeding at one month post-partum. To me,
this is a clear and obvious sign of retained placenta, matched/supported by
the problems with milk supply despite frequent pumping with a good electric
pump. The baby must be fed, in the meantime, but GET THIS MOTHER A D&C
PRONTO. Yes, I'm yelling.

This is yet another case of the mother (and LC) providing clear information
to the doctor/nurse, who is IGNORING THE INFORMATION, dismissing the
concerns, etc. Threaten them with a major lawsuit.

Kathy Dettwyler, feeling pissy, remember my 'adventures with retained
placenta' in 1985 -- finally resolved after two D&Cs.
