I can see that I need to clarify the situation a bit. Our area had a
task force some years back, I was one of the original members ( I knew
the MD and nurse who got the ball rolling) and we got along OK. Many
people have some and gone since then. Some are still here. The two women
that I am most concerned about are both themselves RN/IBCLC and work for
the hospital. They have never been anything but polite when I run into
them. Over the years however I have begun to realize that they really
don't return my calls. They avoid meeting with me. Moms have told me
(with no small measure of exasperation) that they were told in hospital
that there were no other options but the hospital support group and
their services for lactation support in our area.

Last week when I was talking to this doctor/friend she was amazed (at
first) that I hadn't been told that someone was trying to get this thing
going again. Yesterday when I saw her she told me I had a problem.
Apparently She told this woman she had over-looked me and then
instructed her to call and invite me. EEk. Anyway, she says she received
the distinct impression that this was not something that they wanted to
do. Her perception (and I have never even mentioned my concerns to this
MD) was that these nurses are protecting their turf.

My dilemma. I will not ever know exactly what I might have inadvertantly
done and assure them that i am in no way interested in competing with
them if I do not bring this up. I have never discussed this with either
of them over the years so feline i have already tried the "leave it
alone" approach. I have done a fair bit of LLL's communication training
(HRE) and I think I can be fairly non-confrontational. Sometimes though
things do backfire.

Anyway, thankyou for your support and insights. I will update you all
after the meeting.

Victoria in W.Md
