Another thought on this (and what I have found through experience)
is that doctors don't get mad so much at the new evidence, but at
the fact that someone didn't trust their medical advice and went
looking for a different solution.  I have found that I find much more
confrontation with doctors when I go in with my information in hand.
 I get the opinion that they wonder why I am seeing them if I've
already done the work.  Many doctors don't like their patients
taking part in managing their own health care.  There are a few
doctors out there that will actually sit down and talk about different
options, but so many just want you to follow the steps that they
line up for you.
