Dear Lactnetters

Today I received a call from a mom with a 10 week old baby. She is
breastfeeding and has developed a deep pain in her left breast after nursing.
She says the pain radiates into and down her back. She thought it might be
because she had emptied her breast too much so she has tried to stop nursing
before being totally empty...same pain. We thought it might be refill pain,
but this pain has just started and only on one side. She says she sometimes
sees a white "pimple" at the end of the nipple. She also has recently noticed
her supply in the left breast is half of the supply of the right. She will do
saline soaks of the left breast on the chance this is a clogged duct...but do
you think it is a vasospasm? Any help, advice, etc. would be greatly
appreciated.
