While I agree with those who wonder why supplements and potions are
necessary for everything, I like to remind those whose foods are 50-95%
processed, that much of their food is missing nutrients in various degrees,
and maybe that's why supplements are necessary for some. Ever notice
that when you see a list of vitamins needed by us there is also a list of
foods they are in? AND, ever notice that the foods listed as best are
whole grains, legumes, leafy green vegetables, dark yellow/orange
vegetables, wheat germ, etc. Seldom (ever?) do you see processed cereal,
white or brown colored bread, chips, french fries, soda, bologna, mac and
cheese, campbell soup, cheese curls, juice, gatoraid, hot dogs, etc.
Just some thoughts I have after taking 24 hour food recalls from various
women and children in private practice as well as WIC.
