Being  retired LLLL I have counselled many mothers in this
situation and heard many stories over the years.  The sadness
to me is that many of the unbending husbands find it just as easy
to walk out on their wives as they did to leave their baby behind.

My own DH didn't ask for a weekend away until our 15th WA and
the youngest being 5  and weaned was quite happy with older
sibs and grandparents.
