I too was given lots of well meaning advice on the impact of nursing
lying down would have on my daughter re ear infections. We both
enjoyed the side lying position for nursing and until she was weaned
at 11+ months as I went on Zoloft (but that's another discussion) had
and still has no history of ear infections. IMO some children are
more prone to this than others but nursing lying down has very little
t do with it. And it is a wonderful position to allow mom a great
break in the day and to add to the beauty of the family bed for noght
     time nursings.
