I am the mom of a wonderful 19 mos old and had postpartum depression.
The antidepressant, zoloft, was truly a life saver. But because the
fact that my post partum depression manifested itself primarily
anxiety regarding her health and that the long term effects of the med
were unknown, I chose to wean her. Continuing in my grief process
over that, but with the recognition that I did what I thought at the
time was the best for both of us. Another word of support for those
moms going through a similar post partum, I found the support of
Pacific Post Partum Support Society to be of immeasurable value and a
group that is very respectful and supportive of mothers, and
breastfeeding I would suggest peer support.
