Hi Brenda:

I live in Yucatan, Mexico (where the Mayan ladies literally flip the breast
out of their embroidered white dresses and nurse openly anywhere) and read
Elisa's posting on LactNet about the pressure you are under to wean NOW. I
have nursed both my kids (now 17 & 11) for 3 years each, so obviously I am
a very psychologically screwed up lady. And so are the thousands, if not
millions of women in other 'primitive' cultures (ho-ho, look who is calling
who primitive....your Dr. is way back in the Stone Age, my friend!) who
nurse for 2 or 3 or 4 or 5 years.

I had people telling me that sleeping with my infant son past 12 mo. was
going to send him into the arms of homosexuality. Can you imagine? (He'll
always like breasts, but the male perspective of them changes slightly as
they grow up, doesn't it!)

I think it is your Dr.who needs some counselling, not YOU. Keep nursing
until either you or the child feel that the time has come to stop. Not one
minute before.

Take care,

Roberta
