I have always used milk for my children's eyes, and even put drops in the eyes of our pet cats a time or two. I didn't realize that it could be used in the nose until my youngest was stuffed up at a conference that was being held next to a room where people were smoking. One of the editors of Compleat Mother was there and suggested it. I also used it on cuts and scrapes and for chapped or dry skin. My third baby's cheeks were always dry and chapped unless I kept after them constantly. I rubbed some milk into them every time he nursed. I tell people about it all the time. I wish there was a way to keep lactating just slightly, to always have a source of a few drops for such things!
