I've heard the same. There are 2 Pedis in my system who will NOT refer for TT on the basis that the AAP does not support that treatment. I showed them the 2004 article from Pediatrics and said something about experts in published study. Their response was to the effect that "other experts" say the opposite. But they haven't pointed me to their sources - only say they exist - and refused to read the Pediatrics article I printed out for them.
I'd also love to see any resources that might lead to the conclusions on which these Pedis base their conclusions.

I have searched through my resources and have not found anywhere in the literature that states AAP advises against using Speech Therapy for disorganized suck, or tongue movement issues. I have not seen any literature that states they do not advise the use of nipple shields (preterm transfer issue) or advise against frenuotomy. I had a pediatrician state that those statements are in the literature. Could someone help me find them to educate me. This came about due to a request for speech therapy to evaluate a disorganized suck on a term infant.
