I have mom's permission to post. There is no IBCLC in the region, and the
suggestions I may be able to offer are the only support she will receive.

33 weeker, born 4.10, NICU, was given ABM while in NICU and developed NEC,
nursing and EBM during day now while mom works, mom has huge supply and is
miserable at two hours while working if she doesn't pump, baby doesn't act like
OMER is a problem, at 4 mo. baby is now 26 lbs. No medications. No reflux.
No other recognizable signs of anything wrong with baby.

Doc is not a helpful facet to this as he believes mom's milk is too rich
causing baby to be "obese" and wants mom to stop nursing immediately. Has also
convinced them to give rice cereal to fill baby up and get baby to nurse
less. ::sigh:: I've never seen a baby take a bottle of EBM like this
baby.....if allowed to drink until baby stops on its own will drink up to 14 oz. at
once before going to sleep and will scream if stopped before stopping on its
own. Baby also has a very large head and is having trouble supporting it. No
other development concerns are evident beyond the mere size of baby
contributing to this.

Ideas? Can the NEC have left baby with intestinal problems that are
affecting digestion/metabolism? Can there be sensory issues that contribute to baby
not seeming to have an "off" button when it comes to nursing/EBM? Are there
conditions I should suggest they discuss with Ped about testing for that
could contribute to this rapid weight gain?
