I have to agree. I am not yet an IBCLC, but I am a night
shift RN and I personally witness every shift other nurses
that encourage mothers to send their babies out to the
nursery for the night "so you can get some rest before you
go home". They mean well but despite many attempts to
educate them most keep doing it because they believe "it
won't hurt just once". Their hearts are in the right place
(this does make more work for them since they become
responsible for caring for the baby in the nursery) but
their practice is poor. I keep repeating myself, and post
articles and other information around the nurses station,
and keep hoping to educate somebody sooner or later.
