In response to John Mitchell's comments on 08/04 re: Mite Population
drop, I too am seeing reduced mite levels here in south central New York.
Odd, considering the mite populations appeared to be on an accelerated
curve prior to the drought. I've just begun to start sampling/summer
treating and I'm just not seeing many mites so far. Also noted that
brood stages are older capped and eggs. Almost no larve at all.
Wondering if the silver lining to the current drought might be mite die
off.
