> Has anyone had experience using styrofoam hive bodies? > Where can they be purchase in the USA? Dave Taggart of Fairview Alberta has been using and promoting a styrofoam nuc box which has a good tight fitting lid for about $30.00 Canadian ($21 US). They have a fairly hard plastic surface as I recall, sorta like a picnic cooler. They are used to make one or two frame nucs around Midsummer's Day that develop by fall into winterable nucs. These nucs are transported to a warm area in BC until spring, them returned to Alberta to be transferred into full size hives which then produce further nucs and a honey crop. Allen
