Gee, I wonder how that genus name came about ... is it supposed to suggest "lost" (where did that little bugger go?!) or "damned", ... or none of the above! I have a honey bee hive, since a swarm moved into our yard spring last year. I was only vaguely aware that there were native "bees", as distinct from bumble bees and the various wasps. Thanks for the names; I'll see if I can look up anything about them. I don't feel like collecting any when I'm seeing so few; they're welcome to my Phacelia pollen. If they like P. crenulata, I hope they find my neighbor about 200 ft NNE, who has a big patch; my P. Bolanderi is only one plant in a tub.
