Not just Europe! Here in "little backyard CA, USA" I find my backyard Beek neighbors don't always practice BMPs for mites or SHB and loose colonies year after year when they shouldn't. I saw losses from these folks of 50% to 100% just last year. I'm within 6 miles of them and noticed a marked difference in my treatment requirements last Fall, from the year before, to get my mite count down before Winter set in. I know that at least two of these locals treated the previous Fall but not last. I try working with them to get us all making some effort to control varroa D, but it doesn't always come about. By the way, I've not lost one colony (I run 4-8) in the last 5 years! I may combine, but never a dead-out!
