Peter, work by Dr. Ben Oldroyd here in Australia shows that when A. mellifera queens mate with A. cerana drones there is no hybrid bees produced.  See https://rirdc.infoservices.com.au/items/14-049 

Also I am not aware of cerana being found in Fiji.
