No they are not set up this way and never have been..................and those coming here to see my apiaries yearly (in large group for hands on seeing) and talking pictures after organic conference each year, besides those in years prior can show this easily.................my hives are 12-18 inches apart on average and in two rows and yes 20 to 40 hives in a yard is not small space with driving around them for loading and unloading.......................or one long yard on an arroya too! for that spacing in NOT commercial for working!!!!
 
 
So to say at least 3 feet apart shows you have NEVER seen my yards...........and are just talking.............
