> Real pollen if I remember right contains about 40% protein

Roulston et al. compiled a data base of pollen protein concentrations from 377 plant species in 93 plant families. They found that pollen protein concentration ranged from 2.5--61% protein and was highly conserved within plant genera and families. Roulston et al. found no evidence that bee species preferentially collected pollen that was particularly rich in protein. -- WHAT GOVERNS PROTEIN CONTENT OF POLLEN: POLLINATOR PREFERENCES, POLLEN–PISTIL INTERACTIONS, OR PHYLOGENY?
