Ascorbic acid can be bought by the kilogram, old numbers ~$20/kg
Measured amount depends on circumstance. (ie how bad is the ccd AT THIS POINT)
I'd say range is 10-20gm/hive/yr, maybe more if wintering in south (?20-30gm?)
I have not ever fed more than 2.5 gm at one time (usually 1+ gm/hive)
Mostly fed via top bar drench, 10 gm/litre, 6-10 hives/l

My impression is  that bees also seem to prefer VC
I had planned a test, life intervened and it fell by the wayside
