Kim Flottums newsletter describes an APHIS survey of honeybee pests and diseases that will be conducted in 13 states this summer. 

This caught my attention. 

" APHIS is particularly interested to know whether foreign mites of the genus Tropilaelaps have entered the U.S." 

Can anyone comment on this and what symptoms if any would have shown up if we have an infestation in North America?  or could we get into a situation like Nosema Ceranae that was apparently in the USA for years but no one was actively looking for it?
