I am sorry but you are conflating modern beekeeping with commercial beekeeping. Modern beekeeping 
commenced with Langstroth and implies the use of frames, queen rearing, etc. None of this is in itself 
harmful. Many folks run 50 or 100 colonies and look after them admirably. 

Commercial beekeeping really began with truck. Very little has changed in it over the years except the 
size of the trucks. I refuse to think that the majority of beekeepers are greedy bastards. Some may be; 
but like Bob H., most just want to make a living being their own bosses -- doing what they know.
