New Mexico requires registration of commercial beehives depending on where the hives are and how many are in an apiary. If a beekeeper is north of I- 40 and has 15 or more colonies, they require you to register and pay a whopping $3.00 per location. If you are south of I-40 and have 25 or more colonies, registration is required. (In no case is a commercial beekeeper required to pay more than $200, regardless of locations or numbers). In 2006, the state registered 387 commercial apiary locations with 13,320 hives and 15 commercial beekeepers. We also have regulations for "organic" honey. ****************************************************** * Full guidelines for BEE-L posting are at: * * http://www.honeybeeworld.com/bee-l/guidelines.htm * ******************************************************
