HMF levels is not the only way in which the EU protects itself from imports
of honey from the warmer and poorer countries of the World. The worst example
is of their rule that states that honey is only honey when produced by Apis
mellifera honeybees; but there are also many other impediments to free trade.
Those interested could take a look at the Proceedings of the Honey Trade
work shop that Bees for Development held at Apimondia in Dublin last August -
it's on their website.
