With the approach of colder weather, I would be inclined to leave yellow
jackets be, as they will all be gone soon anyway.  That is unless you can't
avoid disturbing them when you walk by.  We had a big wasp nest hanging
right over our work area last summer, and we just watched it grow.  We never
bothered them and they never bothered us, and come October the nest was
