I recall an article by Mark Winston in Bee Culture in which he mentions coming across some piece of information that claimed that lavendar honey contained some substance that's harmful to humans.  I believe Mark said he'd continue to occasionally enjoy the delicate taste of lavendar honey despite of the news...

PS. I never had the pleasure to try lavendar honey.  I once stayed at a B&B in Provance in France.  The lavendar row that surrounded the swimming pool had a lot of visiting bees...

Something wrong there, surely?  Eva Crane in 'Honey' gives lavender as a
group 4 plant - 101-200kg per hectare - and the
French produce tons of the stuff!
