I believe the book Trevor recommended is titled "The Honey Flow" by Kylie Tennant, and I agree it is a great read. My nomination for favorite bee book is Richard Taylor's "The Joys of Beekeeping" which introduced me, a young man from suburbia who had never seen a beehive, to the possibility of making a living from bees, which I have been doing now for twenty years. This book captures the spirit of beekeeping, the struggles and the rewards, the satisfaction of producing honey and beeswax, and of working in harmony with these little creatures. As Taylor says " The world of men is always uncertain, seldom inspiring, often a source of discouragement and dismay. But the keeper of bees, like anyone who has welded his life to the cycles and patterns of nature, can always turn to his tiny creatures and his craft. The bees have a perpetual store of surprises in readiness for their owner, but they also have a constancy beneath it all." "Sometimes the world seems on the verge of insanity, and one wonders what limit there can be to greed, agression, deception and the thirst for power and fame. When reflections of this sort threaten one's serenity one can be glad for the bees, for the riches they yield to the spirit of those who love nature and feel kinship with everything that creeps and swims and flies, that spins and builds, to all living things that arise and perish, to the whole of creation of which we are only a part, like the bees."
