I had a situation the other week where I wasn't sure whether a hive was
queenless or not (it was), but it definitely needed combining as there was
no brood. In a situation like this, is it better to keep looking till
you're sure, or combine as I did with a super and a couple of excluders
between the two broodboxes? Once the bees had mostly gone downstairs, it
was immediately obvious that there was no queen.
