Are we, as beekeepers, convinced that in order to keep queens banked the
surrounding bees must be queenless? Has anyone tried otherwise?

I know one beekeeper who claims that the "queenless" part is in the old
wives tale category and it doesn't make a difference! He says the workers
will feed banked queens just fine. He does, however, suggest a double row
of wire separation as otherwise the workers may bite at the pads on the
bottom of the queen feet.

Any thoughts or experience?
