>With all the talk about banning neonicotinoids my real question, are they less harmful than the other 100 or so available insecticides? Are they the best choice?

In my area considerable a considerable area of oilseed rape is grown every year - and that has continued through the neonicotinoid ban - despite claims by farmers that it would not be possible.

There have been record yields of oil seed and I do not know of any incidents of pesticide poisoning of bees. Apart from the awful weather this year, all bees seem to be thriving.

I rest my case.

Best wishes
