>Believe it or not, we were forbidden from disclosing this information to beekeepers, other that to say "seen a bit of AFB not too far from here" or some such mumblesome pleasantry.

A few years back the bee inspector came to one of my yards and wanted to inspect for AFB. When I asked why he said there was some "in the area." He refused to divulge who it was or even where it was. Of course, beekeepers being gossipers I found out at the next meeting who it was and were the yard was. It was over 2 miles from me and lessened my anxiety considerably.
