I've asked about this once already, but got no response so I thought I
would clarify it a bit more. I've researched the "Hive Rotation Management"
method and am very impressed with it. I'm going to give it a go next
year...if all goes well. What I'm curious about is what I saw in a video
while doing my research. The video showed shook swarms (inside boxes with
wire screen sides) being taken into the bee shed, placed on white paper, and
being sprayed with something that was being simply called "varroa
treatment". They used a regular hand pump sprayer. The video then cut to
the next day where they were removing the shook swarms from the bee shed and
counting the varroa that had fallen off during the night...presumably
because of the treatment. I'm curious as to what that sprayed on treatment
could have been and whether or not it's available/legal in the US. At
present, the only official treatment I'm familiar with is Apistan...and that
in strips. If anyone knows what this could have been I'd be very interested
in knowing. Thanks. :)
